All I know is that it's a Dynacomware font (i.e. It's distributed free from UGC - CERG (Competitive Earmarked Research Grant) and I dnno if it can be redistributed from another site. I've got a sad suspicion that some people that are interested in learning Chinese get put off because they can't see the Chinese on hereĪ great free font that has ALL chinese characters (traditional, simplified, HKSCS, Taiwanese and special old characters not in use but listed in Unicode - briefly, all of 'em) is CERG font. The only one I've found so far is something called Bitstream Cyberbit - but I haven't installed it yet and I don't know if it is freely distributable. If they are freely distributable I will try and host them from here. The fonts we suggest should ideally look nice, have comprehensive glyph support (Cantonese characters obviously a bonus!), be usable on Macs, Linux and other operating systems and be free.

So, I'm after suggestions for free fonts that new users to this site can get hold of and use. The net result of this, is that my old Fonts Page is badly out of date and not much use anymore. Certainly it isn't easy to find on the web, which suggests M$ lawyers have shut down the old pages that used to host it.
Nowadays though, nobody can get hold of it without installing Windows (I think). This was done because at that time Microsoft used to allow people to download the font free of charge. This site uses the font MingLiu for the main revision sheets.
